What's new

Everything we have added and improved since Extrudable3D began, newest first. Want something that isn't here yet? Tell us.

Latest

Stretch any shape, and exact sizes for everything

  • Stretch any shape. Drag a corner to stretch a shape wider or deeper. Circles become ovals, spheres become eggs, and round vases become oval vases. The corner across from the one you drag stays where it is, so the shape grows the way you expect.
  • Side handles. Small squares on each side stretch a shape in just one direction. They work the same way in the sketch and in the 3D view.
  • Width, depth and height for every shape. The panel now shows the real outside size of any shape: width, depth and height, ready to type over. No more working out a diameter or a percentage.
  • Keep proportions with one click. The lock button between width and depth keeps them in step. Change one and the other follows. Hold Shift while dragging a corner to keep every proportion, height included.
  • Snap to round. Stretch a circle until it is almost round again and it snaps back to a perfect circle, so you never end up with a shape that is accidentally slightly oval. You can switch this off in the project settings.
  • Spheres, rings and vases get a real height. Make a sphere taller to get an egg, or flatter for a pebble. Round vases now change height when you type a new one.

Smoother and faster

  • The page never freezes. Cutting holes, hollowing out containers and building molds now happens in the background. You can keep working, turning the view or clicking buttons while the model updates, and a small "Updating model…" label shows when it is busy. A design with 64 holes used to lock the page for about half a minute; now it stays responsive the whole time.
  • Always the newest version. If you change something while the model is still updating, the app drops the old work and starts on your latest change right away.
  • Exports wait for the finished model. Exporting or sharing while the model is updating waits for it to finish, so you never save a half-updated file.
  • Duplicates land beside the original. A copy now appears next to the part you copied, with a small gap, on a free spot of the bed. Before, it overlapped the original, which could slow things down badly with hollow parts.
  • Hollow parts leave each other alone. Two hollow containers placed near each other no longer cut into each other. Handles, spouts and logos that poke into a container are still trimmed so the inside stays clear.
  • Combining hollow shapes. When you combine shapes and one of them is hollow, the app asks whether the result should be one hollow container or a solid piece.
  • Box select in 3D. Hold Shift and drag across empty space in the 3D view to select every part the box touches, just like in the sketch.

Share your designs

  • Share links. The Share button makes a short link to your design, with a picture that shows when you post it. Anyone who opens it gets their own copy to change and print. Your original is never affected.

Easier to use

  • A tidier settings panel. Each shape shows its most-used settings first. Everything else folds away under "More options", with a short summary of what is in use.
  • Handles right on the 3D model. Resize, set the height, lift and turn parts directly in the 3D view, the way you would in Tinkercad. The handles stay the same size on screen at any zoom.
  • Build on top of parts. The Workplane tool lets new shapes land on top of a part or stand against its side. Drag a part over another and it sets down on top. Shapes from the library can be clicked straight onto a face.
  • Right-click menus. Right-click a shape for quick actions: duplicate, rotate, flip, group, align, lock, hide and delete. Right-click empty space to select everything, fit the view or import an image.
  • Sketch, Both or 3D. Switch between the sketch, the 3D view or both side by side. The app remembers your choice.
  • Easier panning and zooming. Drag with the middle mouse button to pan the 3D view, and the scroll wheel zooms toward the pointer.
  • Help everywhere. A Help button opens the illustrated user guide, and settings such as Hollow, Face down and Print preview link straight to their explanation.

More things you can make

  • Molds. Turn a design into a mold. Print the mold itself for soap, wax, resin or chocolate, or make a box to pour silicone around your design. The app shows how much material each casting and the silicone will need.
  • Combine, cut out and overlap. Join shapes into one, cut one shape out of another, or keep only where they overlap.
  • Rounded and chamfered corners. Round off or bevel the corners of boxes, stars, text and drawn shapes. Combined shapes blend smoothly where they meet.
  • Smooth joins between parts. A part sitting on top of another can flare into it with a smooth curved base, which makes the join stronger.
  • Hollow containers and vases. Tick Hollow to make cups, pots and vases with walls and a floor of the thickness you choose. The outside size stays the same.
  • Stand shapes upright. Rings, text and flat shapes can stand on their edge, like a coin.
  • Mug, Cup and Vase presets. Ready-made shapes in the shape library to start from, including a mug with its handle.
  • Edit one part of a group. Double-click a part inside a group to change just that part.

Made for your printer

  • 99 printers built in. Pick your printer from the list, grouped by brand, and the bed is set to the right size. Round delta beds are supported too.
  • Height check. Set your printer's maximum height and the print check warns you when a design is too tall.

Phones and tablets

  • A layout made for small screens. Tools along the bottom, one view at a time, and menus that slide up from the bottom of the screen.
  • Finger-friendly editing. A toolbar appears on the shape you tap, handles are big enough for a finger, and you can pinch to zoom. Press and hold a shape to select several.
  • No more jumping screens. Typing into a box on an iPhone no longer zooms the page, and the top bar always fits the screen.

Accounts and plans

  • Start free, no sign-up. You can design as much as you like before we ask for anything. We only ask for your email the first time you export.
  • Paid plans. The 7-Day Pass, Maker and Seller plans add 3MF export, face-down printing and inlays, print preview, best-quality image tracing, exporting selected parts, and molds. Seller adds commercial use.
  • The name Extrudable3D. The app took its full name, Extrudable3D, everywhere: the app, the website, emails and receipts.

Where it started

  • Draw it, extrude it, print it. The first version turned sketches, text and images into 3D-printable files right in the browser: boxes, circles, stars, freehand drawing and text, extruded into 3D with bevels, twists and holes.
  • Smooth image tracing. Logos and pictures traced into clean outlines that keep curves round and corners sharp, plus reliefs and lithophanes.
  • Face-down printing and print preview. Print the front of a design against the build plate for the nicest finish, and see the actual printed layers before you print.
  • STL, 3MF, OBJ and SVG. Export for any slicer, including multi-color 3MF files with named parts.
