Convert an image to a 3D-printable STL
Drop in a PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG. Logos and line art become smooth outlines you can extrude; photos become height reliefs or lithophanes. Each separate shape can keep its own color.
Settings that print well
Step by step
- Click Import image, or drag the file onto the editor or paste it.
- Choose what to make: Outline for logos and drawings, Relief for embossed tiles, or Lithophane for backlit photos.
- For outlines, set the Width in millimeters and pick Quality. Check the preview: the traced shapes are shown in color over your image.
- If the shapes are the background instead of your artwork, turn on Invert. Light artwork on a dark background needs it. Move Threshold until every part is picked up.
- Leave Separate and Colors on to get one object per part, each colored from your image. The info line tells you how many parts were found.
- Click Add to sketch, set a height, and export STL or 3MF.
Questions
Why does my image come out as a square with holes in it?
The tracer makes dark areas solid by default. If your artwork is light on a dark background, it traces the background instead. Turn on Invert.
Will curves be smooth?
Yes. Outlines are placed between pixels and smoothed with splines, while sharp corners stay sharp. Use Quality: Maximum for the finest artwork.
Can I convert a photo?
Photos work best as a Relief or a Lithophane, where brightness becomes thickness. Outline mode is meant for graphics with clear shapes.
Can I use any image I find online?
Only images you made or have permission to use. Logos and characters are usually protected by trademark or copyright, especially if you plan to sell prints.
